About Professor Regis Lima

At RLMA Martial Arts in New Port Richey, FL, we are proud to offer expert training under the guidance of Professor Regis Lima, a highly respected figure in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Taekwondo.

Professor Regis Lima, born in São Paulo, Brazil, is a dedicated martial artist who earned his Taekwondo black belt under renowned Brazilian athlete Fabio Goulart. A standout competitor, Regis became regional, state, and national champion in 1998. In 1999, he moved to the United States with a clear vision: to one day open his own school and pass on his knowledge and passion for Taekwondo to the next generation. After working hard to build his reputation, Regis was hired in 2001 to teach Taekwondo at recreational centers in Pasco County, FL.

His passion and commitment to the sport quickly gained the support of local families. In 2004, he realized his dream and opened his own Taekwondo school (RL Martial Arts). In addition to teaching, Regis continued to compete, earning the title of National Champion and securing a silver medal at the prestigious U.S. Open in 2007.

In 2011, Master Regis began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Professor Marcio “Pe de Pano” Cruz. After earning his purple belt, Professor Cruz recognized Regis’ dedication and granted him permission to teach beginners. Regis continued to hone his skills and, in 2024, was promoted to Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Professor Cruz.

Throughout his BJJ journey, Regis competed across the U.S., earning a bronze medal at the prestigious Pan IBJJF in 2021. Now, as a Black Belt, he plans to continue competing, embracing the challenges and pressure of the sport to further refine his skills and continue to inspire and teach his students. In addition to his martial arts expertise, he is also the AAU Florida Taekwondo District Director.
